Could be something in the works if the Hockey Contests go belly up. We'll know after tonight.

Fee would depend on how long the contest is... 2 weeks ? by the Month ? for the season ?

there's a lot of game ... could go with a season long one ... for $100 a pop

could use Daily games or use Weekend games only..

Some many ways you could run it

December 1 through February 28, March madness can be a separate contest

$ 100 entry fee, kinda of in the middle

Format is tough, too many games, can be way too time consuming, how about 10 games on the weekends only, kinda like NCAAF, not sure what lines to use though

can we find lines on Wednesday? or do we use closing lines from one of the advertisers? (maybe they sponsor?)

you can also say 10 (or so) games per week using the closing lines from xyz, but that's more manual work for JOH and not easy to format for scoring purposes

This would be a fun contest. I would be interested.

Would it be too difficult to do a two-week or monthly contest similar to the way baseball and hockey were set up? Would like to see those mid-week games included if possible.

A fellow poster wrote that 30-45 plays every week was too much. What would be the downside of letting everyone play the number of picks they normally play in real life?

the downside of making a lot of picks is the work JOH needs to do

don't bite the hand that feeds you :)

Don't be concerned about that Willie. NP

OK, but I still believe a fixed number of plays is the way to go. Lest somebody way behind starts making 20 plays a day, and somebody in the lead shuts down

And you can't set that fixed number too high either, too much work (for everyone) that will probably scare away some people

I think the poster was more concerned that 30-45 picks was too many to have to make.

I agree that a fixed amount is the way to go.

And that's over a two week period, not one. Easily manageable.

I like the idea of Dec thru Feb or maybe we start in Jan through the end of the conference season. Weekend games only. I would be interested in just about any format really.

I'd like to start with a 10 day Tip-Off Contest with a $25 entry fee - winner take all. That would start on Tues, Nov 21st and run thru Thur, Nov 30th.
That would be followed up with 3 monthly contests for Dec, Jan and Feb - $50 entry fee for each of those 3. Payouts would be determined by # of entries. Total for all would be $175.

Right now, I'm leaning toward using the same general rules we used for the Hockey Contests (see the Hockey Contest thread and open the link to make selections for a list of rules).

Better yet, here's the link...
